Township Manager

Lower Paxton Township (population 50,000), Dauphin County, PA seeks an experienced leader to serve as its Township Manager. The Manager has authority to supervise all day-to-day operations, and to coordinate municipal business among the five-member Township Supervisors, staff, and the community. The Manager oversees six departments: community development; finance and personnel; public safety; parks and recreation; public works; and sanitary sewer. The Manager also serves as the Manager of the Township Authority.

Lower Paxton is located in south-central Pennsylvania with easy access to Harrisburg (state capital) and Hershey. The Manager administers annual budgets totaling $52 million, and the Township employs 140 full-time and over 250 part-time employees. The current Manager has retired after 28 years.

The Township isin excellent financial condition as it serves the needs of a growing community.

The ideal candidate is a strongly committed individual who has a positive record of achievement and a history of developing constructive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Candidates should possess a minimum of five years of experience in a municipal leadership role; knowledge of modern local government management and personnel principles; strong financial skills; and experience in land use planning and land development.  A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration or a related field is required, and a Master’s Degree is preferred.
