Friendship Center - Part Time Evening and Weekend Manager

Lower Paxton Township is seeking an experienced individual to join the management team at the Friendship Center in an active and growing municipality.  Responsibilities include: customer service, activity planning and supervision; employee supervision; facility management; rental and programming coordination; maintaining records; documenting daily reports. 

Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in recreation or a related field plus two or more years of experience in facility management and supervision are required.  Experience in Aquatics, Climbing Wall, and/or Fitness is highly desirable.  Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.  

Other Requirements:
Flexible availability for nights and weekend shifts.

A favorable PA State Police Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and FBI Background Check are required.

Friendship Center Service Desk Attendant

The Service Desk Attendant is the initial point of contact for telephonic and in-person contacts being made by those doing business at the Friendship Center. This position requires the performance of varied office work, with emphasis on the skilled operation of a multi-line telephone and other verbal communication equipment.  This position requires one-to-one contact with customers at the front desk area of specific departments or areas of operation.
The Service Desk Attendant performs varied duties requiring the application of judgment based upon knowledge gained through training and work experience. This employee works independently under general supervision. Work is reviewed by superiors through observation, and advice and assistance are provided on unusual or difficult problems.  The Service Desk Attendant is directly responsible to the Business Office Supervisor or the department supervisor with overall responsibility for the area of operation in which work is performed.

Employment Status:
The position of Service Desk Attendant is included within the AFSCME Clerks and Custodians Bargaining Unit. 

Essential Job Functions:
Perform the Essential Job Functions associated with the posttions of Service Desk Attendants, Receptionists, Clerks, Secretaries, and Business Office Supervisors.

Examples of Work:
Receive callers and calls, provide information, and refer items to the appropriate authorities.
Assist customers in completing forms and application, providing basic information in accordance with routine procedures.
Issue locker keys.
Conduct tours of the facility.
Process payments and issues receipts.
Provide basic clerical services to include data entry.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school is desirable, but not required.

Essential Job Functions for Service Desk Attendants, Receptionists, Clerks, Secretaries, and Business Office Supervisors:
Maintain regular, consistent, punctual, and predictable attendance in the workplace.
Work more than the standard workday or workweek when duties and responsibilities require said efforts. Work evenings, holidays, or weekends when duties and responsibilities require said efforts.
Work in an office environment, sit or stand for extended periods of time, and walk to various work areas within the department.
Effectively communicate in writing and verbally using the English language.
Understand and carry out oral and written instructions issued in the English language.
Perform basic arithmetic functions.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
Operate a personal computer and other common office equipment possessing alphabetic and numeric keyboards.
Operate standard office equipment, including a multi-line telephone, cellular telephone, mobile radio, fax machine, copy machine, cash register, and similar office equipment.

8 to 20 hours per week
Available Shifts: Weekday evenings 5:15 to 9:15 pm; Saturday 7:00 am to 7:00 pm; & Sundays 11:45 am to 6:00 pm
